Assure Web Filter

• The Assure On-Device Web Filter can now coexist with third party firewalls/filters. The Assure Web App now shows different tabs for the different firewall/filter rules and rule types. This allows the creation and maintenance of on-campus and off-campus filtering rules through a single pane of glass
• Added a Device Status page listing the devices that have the Assure On-Device Web Filter installed, the version number, device name, the users and last seen status
• Assure On-Device Web Filter v3 for Windows 10/11 is now available supporting:
  • Transparent web filtering
  • SSL Decryption and deep inspection
  • School network detection to support seamless switchover from third party firewall/web filter to the On-Device web filter when the device is off campus
  • Web filter bypass attempt detection
  • Safe Mode enforcement
  • SSO User Auth
• Assure On-Device Web Filter v2 for Mac OS is now available supporting:
  • SSL Decryption and deep inspection
  • School network detection to support seamless switchover from third party firewall/web filter to the On-Device web filter when the device is off campus
  • Safe Mode enforcement
  • SSO User Auth
• The web page scraping option for URL-based allow Rules is now an on-demand step. The user has the option to remove embedded links before saving the Rule. When creating a Temporary Rule (from the Dashboard), Assure will automatically do the scraping and save the embedded links
• Decrypt Rules for both the On-Device and On-Premises variants of the Assure Web Filter can be created in Basic mode or Advanced Mode. Basic mode makes it easier to decrypt web content that needs to be decrypted for increased visibility into and analysis of the students’ online activity
• Admins can disable/enable Rules
• Check Web Category is available for all Assure Web Filter editions. It allows admins to request the recategorisation of URLs
• When the Assure On-Device Web Filter coexists with a third party firewall or filter, only admins will be able to create Assure Web Filter Rules as well as Decrypt Rules
  

Rules

• When editing an existing rule and no changes detected Assure will keep the rule untouched when the supervisor presses the save button

• The Action Log now shows additional tabs for all the rule types for historical data
• The Web Categories page now does not show the ‘available to rules’ element in the form when the category isn’t synchronised from the firewall/web filter

• Enhanced the user report export function
• Added a base URL hit count to web reports where appropriate

• Applied the changes needed for the Canvas LMS integration due to the transition of the Canvas API to lowercase response header names

Bug Fixes

• Applied a fix for an issue that was causing some large reports to not finish generating
• Applied a fix to make sure the rules module exposed through the LMS to students does not have create option

• Introduced architectural improvements to pave the way for the upcoming Parent Portal
• Enhanced the search function globally
• Enhanced the importer component to make some features optional and the help message more dynamic
